A Celebration of our Diversity
An International Mass and Luncheon, celebrating our diverse parish community took place at 11am on Sunday, 5th October. Parishioners represented their national heritage with a procession of gifts in the Mass and a selection of food from different nations in the parish centre afterwards. Thank you to Marie and her team for the organisation and to all those who took part, those who wore national dress, who brought gifts in procession and who provided food for the reception. It was a wonderful event to celebrate the diversity of the parish and one which we hope to repeat each year.

A new book has been published offering a fresh look at two millennia of faith, power and community in Yorkshire. Written by a St Robert's parishioner, Mick Hopwood, the book shines new light on the story of religion and community in Ryedale, one of Yorkshire's most historic regions. Two years ago we published a parish photo directory. It seems appropriate, now, to update it. Parishioners who would like to be part of this project by having their photos taken and published in the directory will be able to have their picture taken in the Lady Chapel after most Sunday Masses over the coming weeks. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on the first Saturday of each month from 4-4.50pm - an opportunity to spend some time with the Lord and, perhaps, to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation which is offered at the same time before the 5pm Mass. Next Saturday adoration is on 1st November.
The study will be Ephesians: Discover Your Inheritance. Ephesians was one of the most widely circulated of St. Paul’s writings because of its powerful, practical instructions for disciples of Christ. This study examines many important themes that are still relevant in today’s Christian culture and society—the nature of marriage, the purpose and role of the Church, the pre-eminence of grace in God’s plan, and the reality of spiritual warfare.
