A wonderful scene for Advent
In the baptistry at the back of church, to the left as you come in, you will find this year's 'Presepe' - an Italian Advent scene lovingly prepared over many weeks by Val. Take the time before or after Mass or when the church is open during the day to come and wonder at the intricacy of this incredible scene at the centre of which is the stable at Bethlehem just waiting the arrival of the Christ child. Well done, many congratulations and the thanks of our parish to Val for this very beautiful and moving creation which we blessed at Mass on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception of Our Lady.

A new book has been published offering a fresh look at two millennia of faith, power and community in Yorkshire. Written by a St Robert's parishioner, Mick Hopwood, the book shines new light on the story of religion and community in Ryedale, one of Yorkshire's most historic regions. Two years ago we published a parish photo directory. It seems appropriate, now, to update it. Parishioners who would like to be part of this project by having their photos taken and published in the directory will be able to have their picture taken in the Lady Chapel after most Sunday Masses over the coming weeks. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament takes place on the first Saturday of each month from 4-4.50pm - an opportunity to spend some time with the Lord and, perhaps, to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation which is offered at the same time before the 5pm Mass. Next Saturday adoration is on 1st November.
The study will be Ephesians: Discover Your Inheritance. Ephesians was one of the most widely circulated of St. Paul’s writings because of its powerful, practical instructions for disciples of Christ. This study examines many important themes that are still relevant in today’s Christian culture and society—the nature of marriage, the purpose and role of the Church, the pre-eminence of grace in God’s plan, and the reality of spiritual warfare.
