JOIN BISHOP MARCUS IN PRAYING FOR VOCATIONS: Our Lady of Unfailing Help! Pray that the Lord of the Harvest will send labourers into His harvest and that He will grant an abundance of vocations to the priesthood, diaconate and religious life within the Diocese of Leeds, and throughout the world. Amen.

 

TOMB TO MISSION SOCIAL MEDIA SERIESOn Easter Sunday the Faith Formation department (in collaboration with the Diocese of Middlesbrough Faith Formation) will launch Tomb to Mission, following the journey of the first disciples from discovering the empty tomb to being empowered for mission by the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Follow along for Gospel reflections, prayer prompts, catechetical reflections and practical ways to live out our daily mission. THE CLOSURE OF ELMLEIGH CONVENT: marks the end of the Sisters of the Cross and Passion in this diocese after over a century of service; they have taught in many of our schools, played a large role in Trinity and All Saints College/LTU, and started St Gemma's Hospice. To celebrate their work and say goodbye to them, there will be a special Mass held at The Briery, Ilkley on 23rd April at 12 noon, to which all parishioners and friends are invited. SOLEMN MASS IN LATIN, VESPERS AND BENEDICTION: Leeds Cathedral, Mass at 12Noon (all welcome to join chant rehearsal at 11am), Saturday 25th April 2026: Join in Sung Mass celebrated by Bishop Marcus Stock, in Latin and with Proper chants from the Graduale Parvum. A DAY WITH MARY, THE MOTHER OF JESUS: 10am-4pm Wednesday 6th May at The Briery Retreat Centre, Ilkley. Join us for a day entitled ‘Do whatever he tells you’, to explore how Mary guides us towards a greater understanding and relationship with Jesus. "GO AND MAKE DISCIPLES" DAY OF REFLECTION: Saturday 9th May, 10am-3pm, Hinsley Hall. A day of reflection with the Dominican Sisters of St Joseph on our mission to share the faith. Explore the implications of the Great Commission and our call from God to make disciples of all nations, as well as some practical ways to pass on the faith. An uplifting day for all! Lunch included. BEREAVEMENT ACCOMPANIMENT TRAINING: Elizabeth Prout Bereavement Care are offering a two-day training course in bereavement accompaniment on Mondays 22nd & 29th June 2026 at The Briery Retreat Centre in Ilkley. CONSULTATION ON THE FUTURE OF THE DIOCESES OF LEEDS, MIDDLESBROUGH AND HALLAM: As part of the consultation currently taking place across our three Dioceses, there is an opportunity for all clergy, religious and members of the lay faithful to contribute by completing an online questionnaire, either individually or as a parish group. Prayerful reflection should be given to the questions so that the Holy Spirit may guide this process of discernment. Prayer resources and a presentation are available on the diocesan website to support this process. Responses should be submitted no later than Friday, 22nd May 2026. CELEBRATION OF MARRIED LIFE: There will be a special Celebration Mass for Married Life, Leeds Cathedral, Saturday 16th May, 12noon for couples and their families celebrating 25th (Silver), 40th (Ruby), 50th (Golden), 60th (Diamond) and 70th (Platinum) wedding anniversaries this year. There will be an opportunity for couples to renew their marriage vows. If you would like to take part in this celebration, please complete the application form, available at the back of church (return details on form).


ONLINE GOSPEL MEDITATIONS: Throughout the year, the Briery Retreat Team deliver fortnightly guided meditations via Zoom, with time for reflection and sharing. These are on Thursday from 7.30pm to 8.15pm. The 'doors' open at 7.15 for a chat and introductions. All are welcome. Register for the link by email admin@briery.org.uk   


THE CHAPEL OF OUR LADY OF THE CRAG, KNARESBOROUGH: We are in need of more trustees, gardeners, volunteers and fundraisers to help us in our mission to keep this unique site open. Donations of plants and money towards our long-term preservation projects would also be welcomed.
