DIOCESE OF LEEDS EVENTS - 29th June 2025

ORDINATION TO THE PRIESTHOOD: Rev Philip Thornley will be ordained to the Sacred Priesthood on Saturday 28th June at Leeds Cathedral at 11am. All invited to attend. Please keep Deacon Philip in your prayers.


BLESSED SACRAMENT PROCESSION & SOLEMN VESPERS: As we continue our Jubilee ‘Pilgrims of Hope’ celebrations St Mary's Batley will be hosting a Blessed Sacrament Procession beginning in the grounds of St Mary’s Catholic Primary Academy and finishing with Solemn Sung Vespers in St Mary’s Church. This will be a very special occasion where we mark this important Jubilee year. Refreshments afterwards in the school hall. All welcome. Sunday 6th July at 3.00pm. 


LEEDS CATHEDRAL GUIDED TOURS SUMMER PROGRAMME: Free Guided Tours will take place on the following dates, starting at 1.30pm: Sat. 12 July; and Sat. 23 August. The tours last about 1 hour.  No booking required.  On arrival, please gather by the Baptismal Font at the back of the Cathedral. 


NORTH LEEDS DEANERY EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION: which will be in the afternoon of Sunday 13 July 2025 at the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, Harrogate Road, Leeds. 2pm followed by fun and games and a BYO Picnic.


CATHOLIC CARE GARDEN PARTY: Please join Catholic Care at our Head Office in Headingley on Sunday 13th July for our Summer Garden Party! Enjoy an afternoon of games, delicious refreshments, stalls and more - all in support of our charity. It’s the perfect opportunity to enjoy some sun, connect, and make a difference. We can’t wait to see you there!

 

PONTEFRACT AND WAKEFIELD DEANERY JUBILEE MASSES: There will be a series of special Jubilee Masses in some of the churches in the Deanery. Parishioners are encouraged to go to some or all of these Masses and so become ‘pilgrims’ in this Holy Year whose theme is Pilgrims of Hope. Jubilee Masses are: Tuesday 15 July - St John’s Normanton; Tuesday 9 September - St Michael’s Knottingley. All Jubilee Masses start at 7.00pm. 


JUBILEE MASSES AT ST STEPHEN’S SKIPTONMasses for the Pilgrims of Hope Jubilee Year will take place at St Stephen’s Skipton, on the following date. Please check the bulletin for times. All welcome. 17 July, 19 August, 19 September, 10am, 8 October, 14 November, 10am, 16 December, 7pm.

 

HOLDING HOPE - ONLINE REFLECTION: Thursday 17th July 7-8pm. Leeds Diocese older people’s charity Growing Old Grace-fully is hosting a hour-long Zoom reflection exploring how to hold on to Christian hope as we journey through life. FRIENDS OF THE BRIERY SUMMER FAYRESunday 20th July 2-4pm You are invited to enter the beautiful house and grounds of The Briery for an afternoon of fun and entertainment.
