SUPPORTING THE PARISH FINANCIALLY

First of all, thank you for thinking of supporting the parish financially and grateful thanks to all those who do so already.  As well as what you witness in church on Sundays financial contributions help support apostolates, charitable works, visits to schools, a prison, hospitals and homes, the elderly and the sick and ministries to the young as well as supporting the mission of the wider Diocese. Your kindness helps these initiatives to thrive as well as provide for our place of worship.

Whilst there is a weekly collection at Mass at which we are grateful for people who give cash, the most helpful way to support the parish is to set up a regular Standing Order from your own bank. A number of parishioners give their time on a Monday morning to count the cash collection and they are always delighted when another person chooses to give by standing order as it makes their voluntary work so much easier!

The parish bank account details are:

Diocese of Leeds Our Lady Immaculate & St Robert

Bank HSBC

Sort Code 40-27-15

Account Number 81017489

When it asks for the reference please insert your initial and surname followed by offertory.

Alternatively, you can print off the Standing Order form here.   Fill it in and send it to your bank with the parish bank details above.

If you wish to gift aid your donation please complete the Gift Aid form here.

Both of the above forms are available in the narthex.

There is also a very easy to use donation machine in the left corner as you enter the church. Donations can easily be made on this machine contactless with a credit card.

WHAT IS A GIFT AID DECLARATION (GAD)?

“Gift Aid” is the scheme used by charities and donors to reclaim tax on charitable donations.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO ME?

If you have paid or will pay an amount of UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each tax year (6 April to 5 April) that is at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities to which you donate will reclaim, the charity can claim 25p of tax on every £1 that you give. This is worked out as: £1x20/80=£0.25.

If you pay UK Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, you must include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HMRC to adjust your tax code.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

You need to complete the Gift Aid Donation (GAD) form for our parish for any donation(s) you have made or will be making, including any Diocesan second collections donated in a recordable format. The parish can then reclaim the tax on your donation(s). Donation(s) must be recorded before a claim can be made. The donation(s) can be given either by numbered envelope, cheque or standing order. The GAD will cover all donations recorded by the parish.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST ME TO GIFT AID MY DONATIONS?

There is no extra cost to you. The tax is an extra bonus for the parish on your contributions.

If you would like to ask any questions about the above, please contact Caroline Walker in the parish office on 01423 504988 during the working week.

Again, thank you for your willingness to support the work of the parish of Our Lady Immaculate and St Robert and of the wider Diocese of Leeds - your kindness and generosity is very much appreciated.
