Thinking of joining the Church?

Journey of Faith

At the Easter Vigil, six people will become Catholics at St Robert's after journeying in faith together over the past few months.  Reports tell us that there is a stirring of interest in the Christian story in countries across the world. In the past year, nine people have made a similar journey before being received into the Church and/or baptised into the faith. A number of them are now in the 16-30 young person's group.

Those who make an enquiry about becoming a Catholic usually meet with Fr Simon first off to discuss what brought them to this point and to answer any questions they may have about the Catholic faith or the mechanics of becoming a Catholic. Then, if they wish to proceed, they join a group known as 'Journey in Faith' which meets a couple of times a month to spend time exploring the different elements of the Catholic Church, to share faith with each other and to hear the faith stories of regular parishioners and those who have also made a similar journey.

A new group is being formed after Easter so now is the time to come forward if you wish to enquire about joining the Church.  Use the button below to contact us or simply send an email to Fr Simon at simon.bradbury@dioceseofleeds.org.uk

Listening and Fasting: Lent as a Time of Conversion Lent is a time in which the Church, guided by a sense of maternal care, invites us to place the mystery of God back in the center of our lives, in order to find renewal in our faith and keep our hearts from being consumed by the anxieties and distractions of daily life. Every path towards conversion begins by allowing the word of God to touch our hearts and welcoming it with a docile spirit. There is a relationship between the word, our acceptance of it and the transformation it brings about. For this reason, the Lenten journey is a welcome opportunity to heed the voice of the Lord and renew our commitment to following Christ, accompanying him on the road to Jerusalem, where the mystery of his passion, death and resurrection will be fulfilled - Pope Leo
